ahh, I hate fans
You put a nice one in and then there is wires, then the wires get caught, then the fan begins to choke.
The cpu musta fried in less than 15 seconds! The tape let go thats holding three sets of 80mm fan wires together. The wire got tangled in the 150mm fan. I was surprised the fan neva hacked the wire to bits. strange!!!
@ 1800+ mhz, an Athlon processor smokes alot, waha, that was the best damn processor that I have ever had or heard of for overclocking.
ahhh
well, I got a Duron 600 @ 1GHz in there for now, gonna get me a AthlonXP1900+ in a month.
Rest In Peace, "for he was one of the only processors ever to hit the 1.8GHz+ mark.. LONG LIVE AMD!"
:(
Sorry to hear about your loss. What heatsink and fan are you using?

I think its safe to say that sometimes..,
"Life's a bitch!"
sorry bro, I love my AMD chip too, its gotten me so many burnt cds and so many hours on C&C/UT and Q3. And I'D HATE TO SEE IT GO!
strange, I never thought your CPU would die that way.

Sorry to hear that. I just secured some wires in my case!

yep, something like that happened to me with a case fan once. now all my fans have guards on them, and cables are out of the way, or zip-tied.
mine just choked the fan, and almost burnt it out. it was DAMN hot too. (the core of the fan...)

Sorry about your loss. That really sucks, dying from a wire ... I hope your new 1900+ will kick some a** !
isn't the same guy that said he has is 1.4@1.8 air cooled? and he has like 50 some odd fans in it?
sorry your chip got destroyed so I guess we will never see any screen shots then ;)

"24 case fans", 18 on the panel, 5 in the back and one in the front bottom! all 80mm.

Im still wondering how your cpu burnt out so quickly, im using a globalwin wbk38 and the fan came off of that whilst playing quake (i noticed that the pc was quieter) after about 3mins i checked the temps and 88C!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ripped the power lead out and prayed, re-attached the fan and it worked. Just luck I suppose, but i do have a good case cooling solution, ie temp never goes more than 1C above room temp!
I would forget if he changed his sig.............

wonder what speeds those AthlonXP1900+ will do, I bet someone gets close to 20 ghz with one :p ( J/k )

Actually, I think I'm gonna wait till the AthlonXP 2000+ comes out, hopefully by Christmas.
I'm hoping to hit the 2GHz mark with that processor.

The 2000+ XP runs a 1733MHz right?

apparently the palominos core will max out at 2.0gig! so next year there will be a 0.13 core! might wait untill then, will they be any faster? is there any point in waiting? i dont wanna buy a 2000+ and then have them release a 3000+ or somefing? any ideas?

nick_cw,
Kinda off topic, but your sig says you have an 800 watt sub, is that for real, or is it one of those cheap PMPO ratings?
If it is a real rating what type of sub/amp is it? Also what size sub is it 12", 15", 18"?
I thought my two 10" subs running on a 120 watt x 2 Proton amp was alot for my computer room!
Even my home theater only has 2 12" subs with a 300 watt x 2 Dynaco amp! I am a HT nut also so your sig intrigued me. If it is a true 800 watt sub you are one insane man:)

Sorry to hear about your loss, I know how hard it is to find a chip that will do that well :( RIP
