First, I'm building a pretty nice 'puter with a good video card, etc. So, I don't want to get a piece of crap monitor for obvious reasons.

I really want to do a dual monitor setup, but it's not necessary. I am spending so much $$$ on the other stuff that I'm afraid 2 monitors @ ~$350 will cause my wife to pull a Lorena Bobbit on me.

So, I can get the Dell 1905FP for $276. Now, I could probably get 2 of those without causing too much angst...See, here's the REAL problem- My wife wants a boob job. I want a new computer. She says the 'puter is more important than her boobs, but I say there's is nothing wrong with her boobs, I like 'em just fine (really!). And besides, these days I spend much more time playing with the computer than her boobs anyway. ;)

But, I'm reading some bad stuff about Dell and the Samsung panels. I know some people rave about the Samsung panel, but if you go read the reviews people seem MUCH happier with the LG panels. Besides that, I hate Dell. I really, really hate Dell.

So...I can get the LG L1981Q for $375 shipped from Newegg. I can't justify 2 of those at that price- even though it appears to be a good deal. I would need to wait a few months before getting a second monitor- which is OK with me, the only issue being that I'm an anal retentive perfectionist and my dual monitors need to match or it will drive me nuts.

I've read from some people that a 19" isn't worth the cost over a 17" because the native resolution is no higher. Well, I have an 18" NEC 1880SX now and I'm not going to a smaller monitor. (This 'puter is being passed down to my son, so I won't be scavaging anything from it.)

So, if the recommendation is to go 20", I'm back to Dell. I can get the 2001FP for $430. That's about the max that I'm willing to pay for a single monitor. My concern is that it will be a piece of crap and I'll need to go through the maddening process of dealing with India. I have nothing against East Indians, but I hate dealing with them when it comes to "customer service"- which is actually an oxymoron when dealing with Dell.

So, waddya think?
