I was going to get the 6800 and unlock the extra pipes...I don't know much about ati so I do not know if there is a better card for cheap or simular price.
Ati card: ~170

PCI-E or AGP? Try to get an X800pro or X800GTO2. Both are just slightly more but better than anything else in that range.

Agp.

agp is a dying platform so I wouldnt spend too much on that. How bout a 9700pro or 9800pro?

Yeah, just get a 9800pro untill you want to go pci-express.

6600gt would be better than the 9800pro in your price range and on AGP...

Yah, 6600 GT would be the best choice, but he doesn't want nVidia for some reason. I agree with the 9800 Pro or X800 Pro if you can find it for that cheap.

I just know nothing of ATI...I just wanted some cards to compare the 6800 I may buy to see what is the better buy

A 6800LE I think is the best for the price.

I beleive that the X800GT, GTO, and GTO2 come in agp, since its still a part of the R4xx series. IMO, thoughs would blow anything else in that price range out of the water.

Only the GTO comes in agp. Get that or a Pro if you want ATI, but they are a bit over budget. If you want something cheaper go for a 6800LE because they have great success unlocking the pipes and are very cheap.

If you can find a 6800LE that un-locks, thats your best bet. 12 or 16 pipes should be nice.
