My motherboard doesn't have SATA connectors, probably because its a skt754. My current HDD is connected in IDE. But if I wanted to get a SATA HDD, would I be able to use it if I brought a SATA PCI card? I'm not sure if the SATA PCI cards are for motherboards that already HAVE SATA, or would it work for me?

Out of the following two, which would work for me? One is just a plain SATA connector on PCI, while the second one is a IDE to SATA convertor. Any recommendations?

Cables Unlimited Serial ATA 2-Port RAID card (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1431868&CatId=0)

IDE Ultra ATA-100/133 to Serial ATA(SATA)PortMini (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1567086&CatId=0)

Both would work - I'd lean towards the little PATA->SATA adapter rather then the PCI card because you won't have to mess with any drivers. Also, it'll be much easier if you want to make your SATA your boot drive.

A PCI SATA controller will use up a lot of your PCI bandwidth.
