I just can't retain anything :D

Over the years I've read through BASIC books, and C books, and PASCAL books. But I dont retain anything!!!!

Anyone else have this problem?

On another note, I want to actually get serious about coding in windows environments. You guys think DarkBasic or similar would be a good start?

Yep, I find that too. This time last year I could do simple Java applets. Now....*sigh*...nothing.

I seem to be able to remember COMAL quite well (teaching language..BOKE!), but C is a bit complex.

Yup have the same problem. The other day I was playing around in UNIX and thought that making a web page using vi would be good practice using vi. after opening vi I realized that I forgot most of the html tags that I once knew. I really hope that this time next year I will remember everything I am learning now in VB. This sucks. we need to invent some super memory pills or something.

Me too ! It wasn't for C or Visual Basic, it was for HTML. I learned it last year, and forgot most of what I learned ! IE : I tryied to show a friend some HTML programming, and I put [ instead of < (DUH !!! )

From my poor memory isnt DarkBasic a simple language for producing simple games running on Windows ?

I don't have that problem, but then again, each language I know I've studied for long enough (and recently enough) to remeber everything. BASIC I've been doing since I was 6 with our C-64, and I took a year of Pascal in school last year. Mabey HTML.... I can't remeber very much... But then again, I never learned much either :D !!
