is there a way to reverse the rotation of the slot fan so its blowing air up on the video card instead of sucking air away? without ripping it apart, i tryed reversing the wires but it didnt work.

Is it worth it? I'm just curious.
O_O I remember a thread like this that was a year back. O_O
I think most of them are "blowers"(like that of in a furnace, not blades like your average fan) and the way they work is is not possible to reverse them. No matter which way it spins the air would get pushed away from the center---> to the outside, so no they can't be reversed.
I have found that blowers don't work very well. Get a good exhaust fan above it and a nice side panel blowhole. Works alot better.

blowers are just like anything else, they work well when you use them properly. blower fans get good pressure but low airflow, it's just how they work...

The design of the blower (or squirrel cage as they are sometimes refered to) makes it hard to reverse the air flow. They can only blow outward from the center, using shroud to guide the air in certain direction so the only way to reverse that is if you mounted that fan on the outside blowing in.

seems to me, just snip the little wires, cross, tape, done.

Seems to me you didn't read the rest of the thread :bang head
Even with a normal fan that usually doesn't work, most DC fans won't run if you reverse the polarity.

The direction or orientation of positivity relative to negativity
Meaning you got to get the magnet to spin the other way which you cannot just cross wires and do that.

maybe you could try removing the center fan and put this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999021) fan on top of the hole that's there, just a thought.
