hey guys don't be so harsh.
I haven't heard of anyone killing an NVIDIA card with a softmod (although it may have happened). However softmodding usually (did on my 9500, my 9800SE, my 9800SE AIW, and my 6800LE) makes the core run a fair bit hotter, which while usually not a problem on it's own if you want to open the pipes and also oc to 6600 clocks you may want either a case fan pointing at the card or a custom cooler.
In other words, do it, there is very little chance of damage with a softmod (however hardmods, and bios flashes are somewhat more dangerous). Also don't quit the forums over this, it'll take ages to get any respect and it's not a bad thing, a lot of the peeps on here know a whole load more than you or me.

The Sarge need to go back thru basic training I think.
There are mnay threads on this forum where Sarge has been given good advice, and has been given speciffic links that will teach him how to do the mods, but he wasn't taking any of the advice.
In one thread he wanted to know "what # of the little silver thingy's do I need to mod this card?". Didn't even know what they were or what their function was, and was trying to go in there and mod the thing.
People kept trying to help the guy, but he won't take the advice and read.
You guys know that you can't go screwing with stuff if you don't know what you are doing, and don't have any understanding of what it is you're working with.
These forums are great. To me, this is the best forum on the net for anything computer related. I have never had any problems getting the information I needed here. I *have* had some problems understanding some of it sometimes. Some of this stuff is complex. I just had to read it, and read related material until I understood it.
It's there if you ask and take suggestions.
I know one thing, if somebody ruined my card, they'd be paying for it. There ain't no if's and's or but's about it. They'd either fix it like it was, mod it like it supposed to be done, or placing an order at the Egg for a new card, or would be sending me a paypal or MO.
If I went messing with somebody's card, and screwed up I'd have to make it right. More than likely I wouldn't screw up though, becasue I would do the homework necessary before taking on such a thing, or I wouldn't be messing with somebody else's stuff.
You can ask alot of questions, and *hear* the answers, but if you're not *listening* and using that advice, why even ask?
