View Full Version : Cooler, more quiet Thunderbird??
Here is my setup:
1.4ghz AYHJA (not overclocked at the moment)
ASUS A7A-266
ThermalRight SK-6 (used Arctic Silver 2)
One 60mm Intake
One 80mm Out
Seagate 40gb HD (5400rpm)
Radeon 32 DDR
...
The temps are (Asus PC Probe):
Case: 28C
CPU: 55C
Ambient (from thermostat): 69F
I just moved it from a larger room, and now the noise level is totally unbearable. It reminds me of an airport.
Is there some way to make it run cooler without more fans or some $150 watercooling setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hey bud. I'm running a 1.4 also, but I'm using a Glaciator HSF @ 34c. So in other words, with that SK-6, your temps should be a lot lower. Try re-mounting it and remember, only the slightest layer of arctic silver is needed. To answer your question, the only other option you have is to run your system with the shell / sides off of the case. I have a total of 14 fans (including the 6 little 40 mm's in my 2 removable drives) in my pc and it's still fairly quiet. The loudest of them being the 2 delta slims I have in the back sucking hot air away from my video card and cpu. I know it's very unnoticable because if it wasnt, my wife would let me know! :)

might want to get a glaciator and watercooling is not always that expensive.

the SK-6 should not be that bad
I had a fop-38 "aluminum" and got ALOT better temps thin those
around 33-45c
either the mbm is way off your you need to reseat
did you put the clip one backwards? I did that once and got temps in the 50c
lose Asus Probe and go w/ Motherboard monitor.
