Windows XP Hypothetical

I know that XP has forced registration and all that.

Let's say I am running 98SE, and wanted to buy the upgrade edition, $99 US. Lets also assume that my 98SE may not be, umm, *properly registered*.

Could this be a problem?

You were not required to register Win98. I think most people running Windows have not registered with Microsoft.

You are registering XP, not 98. It will be no problem.
