Need Help w/ OCZ DDR2 Memtest+ Results

ok, i need some help interepting my memtest results, and i'm trying to figure out whether its my CPU or if its my RAM that is limiting my overclock


FSB:RAM = 1:1
vCore = 1.55v
vDimm = 2.1v

200x18, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

14x275, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

15x275, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

16x275, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

17x267, 4-2-2-8 - 4096 errors in test #4

17x267, 4-4-4-12 - 1 error in test #4

14x300, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

15x300, 4-2-2-8 - no errors

14x333, 4-2-2-8 - no post

14x333, 4-4-4-12 - no post




FSB:RAM = 3:4
vCore = 1.55v
vDimm = 2.1v

15x250, 4-2-2-8 - 2 errors in test #2, 1 error in test #3

no other tests run - will run more tomorrow

someone please tell me whats wrong with either my RAM or my CPU!

i doubt its my CPU though because the guy i bought it from had a legit 100% stable overclock of 4.5ghz w/ a zalman 7700Cu & STOCK VOLTAGE, using a 2x512 set of Corsair 5400 UL, and on my rig, 4.5ghz isn't even stable at 1.55v w/ water cooling :bang head :cry:

your ram is rated 333mhz 4-3-3-8 2.1v

you are trying to run 333mhz 4-2-2-8 2.1v and you get two errors, not bad
you try to run 445mhz 4-2-2-8 2.1v an it goes to hell... hmmm wonder why

set your divider to 1:1 or something not so harsh. after you set the fsb it's the option right under it, and it's going to display the ddr2 speed (ex 200mhz 1:1 = 400mhz option : ex 266mhz 1:1 = 533mhz option) as the divider. for the love of god don't try to run 3:5 @ 266fsb unless you crank the voltage and loosen the timings.

edit: i really don't understand why you make this so difficult on yourself and us trying to help you. if you're trying to rule out the ram or cpu then test them INDIVIDUALLY.

4547Mhz is just too much for that CPU it looks like. Errors in the frist 4 tests of memtest are CPU or power supply related. What are your CPU load and idle temps with the watercooling setup you've got? I don't remember what the slowest memory divider on that board is, but I'd suggest you switch to the divider that runs the memory at the lowest speed and then check to see how high your CPU can overclock. This will eliminate the memory from the equation and will let you find the max CPU speed

wtf... i think i forgot to change the divider from running it at 3.6 @ 333mhz :bang head... i'll get some new tests done after school today (the ones that i was supposed to get done)

well, i set the memory to DDR400, and timings at 4-4-4-12... and CPU @ 1.55v is barely stable to do a cpuz screenie of 17x275 :cry:


so is it my CPU? or is it just the fact that i have 2gb instead of 1gb of RAM?

The memory should be able to run at stock without memtest errors. If you change the memory speed to DDR400 and leave the timings at 4-2-2-8 do you still get errors?

that's your cpu, unless your ram can't do 275mhz 4-4-4-12 which you haven't tested yet for some reason
