I personaly wouldn't buy an 80 gig hd with harddrive prices as low as they are these days, but thats me.

I have an 80 and it drives me nuts. I want more

I agree. Unless you're really low on money, get at least 160gb. 80gb WILL NOT BE ENOUGH. Trust me. I have an 80gb drive right now, and half my drive is already used by the time Windows gets done installing all the BS on the CD and update web site. :p Not really, but it's still not very much space.

Maybe a better HDD? A DiamondMax Plus10 250GB w/16mb Cache runs for about $110.

I'd go with the Scythe Ninja over the SI-120. Both would probably yield around the same results though.

Maybe want a stronger PSU? Since it looks like you might be going with Crossfire in the future, maybe get the OCZ PowerStream 520W for $110?

With others on this, 80GB for alot of people is not enough. For $50 more you could triple your space and not have to worry about storing things.

You should know if 80 gigs will be enough space for you. I have a 20 gig hard drive and it's more than enough space on one rig, and a 250 gig that I always find myself pushing the limits on. It's a more personal choice based on what you want to do more than anything else, but I agree, with the price/GB today you might want to get a little more just in case.

I don't like the idea of fan controllers....I mean if your OC is so unstable you have to crank up the fans while you do stuff...your gonna forget to do it some time. Just get some good fans at a db level you can enjoy...if you sleep in the room as your computer just turn it off, save money. (booting takes 30 seconds max...hit the power button on put on clothes)

*edit* you know you listed 5-7 120mm fans which are 48db each! My advice is just use the fans that come on that lian li and again ditch the fan controller. Your only gonna need 2...3 if you can mount a 120 up front. Those other 2 look like 80 or 92mm fans. Order 1 fan, I'd say 35-40db 120mm fan and run it with the stock fans and see what it's like.

Also I would get the 7800GT, it's 10 or so more and performs better than the 850.

I see what you mean... Ill have to ponder that. Maybe ill get some fans that arent as loud.

Nah... like i said im not that big of a gamer and the Mobo has ATI chipset so im getting an ATI vid card.

edit: There i tamed the fan down a lil. http://www.excesssolutions.com/cgi-bin/item/ES3377 and only getting 1 fan controller. Now how bout the HDD?

You better believe it. High quality fan, grill and connector for 5 bucks... doesnt get any better than that.

Alright i picked out 3 hdds. What do you think?

Seagate Barracuda 250GB

Western Digital Cavier 200GB

Seagate Barracuda 160GB

Im leaning towards the 250GB but i want you opinion first.
Since you said you are not much of a gamer, I would go with the 250. I use a raptor 36.4 because its just used for games and want the speed. You might as well get the most space for aonly a few bucks more as some have said. It never hurts to have more!!!
I agree on the PS. I would go with one a bit bigger, just in case.

I personally don't like Seagate HDDs, because some people has had bad experiences with them.

That WD Caviar is pretty good. But if you want to save money, get the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus10 250GB for about $90, the 300GB verison is $110.

If you are planning to get a Raptor, I'd say get the 74GB verison, for some reason it's faster then the 36GB one, plus the extra space at 10krpm won't hurt at all. Look around classifieds here, a few people are selling raptors for cheap.

I've had great experiance with seagate. They're also one of the quitest drives I've used as well.

Ill probably stick with the Seagate. They seem to have a good reputation and they are pretty good quality.

Im 70% sure im gonna get the Powerstream.
