What's your basis for that comment? because I'm pointing out reviews? you were all wanting reviews before weren't you? Is it because it doesn't paint the 8500 in an all glowing 'ATi are perfect' manner?. Well sorry, we're not all fanATics.
And incidentally, I do like my Radeon. I always thought it had great potential (and if you care to look back a bit this is how the original card was portrayed 'great potential'), it just never quite lived up to what it could have been. And that is down to poor driver support. Say what you like it's hard to deny.
Jeez for a moment I thought I'd wandered onto Rage3d. What happened to 'freedom of speech'?

im sorry its just that ive read so many reviews that say exactly the same thing ive become jaded by tech reviews....what i was trying to point out is that all the reviews that you have pointed out say the exact same thing.......there is no reason for more reviews......

Fair enough, but don't you think it's better to get as wide an opinion as possible? so many fan-boys were slating Anand and Tom's because they thought they were 'biased' (but mostly because they didn't give an all-out 'yeah this is great' review), then said they were waiting for HardOCP, then they reviewed with pretty much the same results. I don't personally have a grudge against ATi hell I have one of their cards. I just think this gives people a better choice of opinions to look at about the 8500, if the majority aren't favourable that's hardly my fault is it?.
You don't buy a product based on ONE review (well I don't).
I'm not having a go at you personally :) I'm just getting kinda tired of having to defend myself when I happen to criticise ATi, or even post a review to one of their cards. A lot of customers have issues with them at the moment.

i am not attacking you either, also when i bought my video card i read all the reviews I could and decided that price/performance a Geforce2Pro was the way to go (after seeing how fuzzy everythingn looks though im doubting my choice)........so i guess your posting of reviews should help people buying new video cards but i really think that drivers are very fixable and ATI will probably fix them.....

The new drivers are out, let's see how many of these sites step up and redo the review with the newer drivers.
I'm not taking in anymore reviews until they do. So far, Anandtech is the only review worth looking at. Yes, he painted the same story as everyone else, but at least he had data to back it up.
HardOCP's review I skimmed but didn't commit myself because he tested on an overclocked machine. I personally dont like to see reviews of hardware on an overclocked machine. We all here know what happens to hardware when your start pushing the FSB.....
Tom's was pretty close to being biased. That and he had nothing to back up any of his claims.
But at least HardOCP looked into the ATI/AMD problem. And it looked like that weighed more on AMD than ATI.
I really think this card has potential. I don't think it will ever beat the GForce, not with the way they keep finding mysterious performance gains in their drivers.
But you have to admit. This card had nVidia scared to death. And for good reason. It may not out-perform the GForce, but by God, it has it by the short and curlies.
You can't blame all the reviews you read that bitchslap the 8500 on reviewer-bias. I'm sure that there are some people out there who are not biased at all when it comes to reviewing.
ATI has made an excelent card. A phenominal card. But that still dosn't stop them from releasing ****ty, half-assed, undercooked drivers for their amazing hardware. ATI better get their **** together soon, and start releasing drivers that are cooked long enough (and enabling SmoothVision on the 8500 would be nice :)) They've dug their own hole w/ their own drivers, and thats whats killing them in the benchies.

Read it again. I didn't blame all the reviewers for being bias. I blamed one.
And I hate to burst your bubble, but nVidia releases ****ty, half-assed, undercooked drivers too. And let me put the emphesis on the undercooked part.
