Ok, so I may be a bit behind the times but this is the first time I have heard of Trillan. Has anyone or does anyone use it. And how do you like it. What are it's downfalls?
I use it, I like it decently enough, I hear gaim is better but trilian does most everything I need it to so there's no point in switching. Upsides include multiple usernames and im clients on one program (including IRC), no spyware (important if you're an AIM user) and a decent level of customizability. Downsides include cannot send folders (items must be zipped first) and some bugs where it loses usernames (just add them back and it'll be fixed).

It's been a while since I used trillian, but the thing I didn't like about it was that you couldn't click links in peoples profiles. That, and I don't really use yahoo or msn so it was kind of pointless for me to use.
i use trillian instead of msn/aim clients - i like it but it seems to have a nasty habit of forgetting my chat window preferences and attaching all conversions together into one tabbed window even tho iv told it not too :)

i have it and love it. you can get tons of plug-ins (minibrowser so you can click links in people's profiles). it's extremely customizable, although i wouldn't use it if i only had one client.
You can't view html profiles in Trillian Basic, but if you buy the Pro version, you can. I love trillian. The tabbed message windows are awesome, especially since you can have different clients in one window. You can even have a chatroom in the same window.

I use it, but it is sort of bloatware. Does anyone have any experience with Gaim?

Trillian is prettier than GAIM. Other than that, I've found them to be pretty much the same. However, I'm not an avid chatter. I probably wouldn't notice the little things that may sway a person in one direction or another.

trillian is da bomb
I've been using Trillian Pro since the early 2.x days. I love it. It does everything I need it to do, and has the expanded functionality of user-made plugins (I use the POPMail checker and the SystemInfo Plugin). I also supports all the major networks (ICQ, AIM, MSN, Y!, and GT), and also comes w/ a plugin called Rendezvous, which allows you to talk to anybody on your network who is also running Rendezvous w/o having to hunt them down and add them to your list. It's cool!

Middleman is awesome too... i like it better than trillian, mainly cause i was already used to AIM, and middle man just guts it like a pig quite nicely :D
