Hi,

I have recently bought a new PIII 850MHZ slot1 processor. I have replaced it and my system BIOS recognize it as only 700MHZ. I have ran an Intel ID utility to identify the processor, and it identify it correctly with the right parameters.

I have tried to reset the CMOS but it still does not work.

I have also considered to flush my BIOS, but I'm not really sure if it will help.

What am I doing wrong? I'm helpless:confused:

Flashing the BIOS should help because companies always create suport for better processors so i am guessing it should help.

i agree with coolio flashing should help, the850mhz might not have been around when your board came out....

Run WCPUID to check the speed. It may be running at 850 even though the BIOS says 700 at bootup. As long as it is running at 850, that's all that matters.

Well,my opinion is that the new member "pencilneck" did the best
post of all !!!....and i agree totally.
If your pc is running at 850mhz then you have no problem.
Now if you want your pc to also see your cpu as an 850,then just
download the latest bios for your motherboard....hoping that the
company has added new cpu's,microcode and.....whatever.

That's all from me
Take care.
