i would suggest getting 2 7800GTX and put them in crossfire with each other. :p

in all seriousness let us know more what your looking for so we can help you out

EvilCloudStrife, to utilize the crossfire system you need ATI cards, just as you need Nvidia cards for SLI.
As far as the ram goes, it's my understanding that ballistix run very well on that board. Considering it's a high end system I would assume you'd want 2x1gig..

are you looking for 1gb? 2gb? 4gb? what do you plan on using this system for?

i see a crossfire board but no vid cards, so....

so you really need to pay more attention to detail

and to evilcloudstrife you need ATI cards for crossfire....not NVIDIA...im also set on buying one of the ATI x1800 series cards

is there a difference between running four sticks of 512 vs two sticks of 1gig?

Yes, there is. If you run 4x512 it runs at 2t.(in most cases) With 2x1 gig 1t is possible.(in most cases) You can usually OC better with 2 sticks than 4 as it's easier on the memory controller. Also, if you ever want to upgrade(which I doubt) you still have 2 open slots.

ah very informative....this is just a really random question but...how do you guys know so much about computers?

ALSO: a few other questions not pertaining to memory

1. will i need WinXp pro to utilize the 2x capabilities of my processor?
2. do i really need two gigs of memory or could i get by with one?
3. probablly more noobish questions to follow

lol

Answers in order:
Chinese fortune cookies.:)
1. No, but I would recommend XP anyway. (Bill pays me to say that)
2. You can get by with one just fine. The 2 is good for Photoshop and some current games.
3. All noobish questions are welcome, but expect noobish answers. :D

finding order in your 1st post is akin to finding a needle in a haystack.

2x1gb sticks > 4x512

if you play bf2 or do MANY high-resource programs (picture / video / music editing) at a time then go with 2gb; otherwise save your money.

2x1gb sticks > 4x512

how does that work...if my math is correct...
1 gig= 1024mb
so then 2 gigs= 2048
512*4= 2048

i dont see how its that hard to find 1 line of text in 13 lines of text...everybody else found it fine

did i say that 2 gigs was greater than 2 gigs?

or did i say that "2 1gb sticks are greater than ( > ) 4 512mb sticks" ?

2x1gb allows you to run 1T which is better performance (if only slightly) and also allows for upgrades in the future should you decide to get anything more than 2gb

wow you REALLY think i tried to convince you that 2 1gb sticks provided more physical memory than 4x512mb sticks?

you need to "pay less attention to detail" and stop being such a tight-*** when all i was trying to originally do is find out what would work best for you

some people....

besides Crucial...will any other RAM work well with the DFI?

im actually considering changing motherboards...im not sure i need the Crossfire capability, im not planning on buying another video card...so any other ideas for a mobo?

There's lots ram that would work well. OCZ would be next on my list, but they paid me to say that.(J/K....I figure I should get in on the gravy train...and there's some bucks from Purina!..LOL)
Okay, if we are talking about another board is it agp or pci-e?

deffinately PCI-e...if possible i wouldnt mind keeping everything else the same just switching to a non-crossfire board and saving myself a hundred bucks

For overclocking the DFI NF4 Ultra or SLI is still the best overclockering board. The Epox EP-9NDA3+ is also a good overclocker. On the budget side the ASRock ULI1695 based board is also attractive.
