Newegg - Deactivated items

My cousin just ordered himself a Geforce 6800nu yesterday from newegg, same one I got a week ago from XFX. The difference is, when he checks on the status, and clicks on the xfx, it says something along the lines of "The item you are looking for has been deactivated"

What does that mean? Is it just out of stock? Never being sold again? Or what?

Sounds like the product has been discontinued.
