I shall start modding a CM Centurion 5 tonight. I plan to take off all of the paint and give it a brushed metal look, add some other things too which I'll perhaps talk about later. I do love this case but I think it needs some renovation. Do note that this is my first mod.

Here are some pictures of the current state of the Centurion 5. I couldn't take many because the camera died on me. :bang head

Yes, it is still wrapped up in plastic.

I'll post some more pictures tomorrow, currently recharging the camera batteries.

I hope this turns out well. :)

I just bought a Antec Super Lanboy, I was debating between it and the Centurion. I can't wait to see how this mod turns out for you! I might have to get a centurion for my next case. I really like them.
This is my antec so far, no mods.

It's kind of dark, I'm planning on adding some blue cathodes and other nice things. :santa:

The Centurions are great cases. Mostly anything by CoolerMaster is top notch quality.

I'm going to start to sand the top of the case by hand. All of the sanding, infact, will be done by hand. I don't have a sander. :-/

Just finished sanding the top of the case. It looks quite good. I didn't think it would turn out this well. I'll post some pictures when I wake up tomorrow.

Sounds good, your hand will probably fall off in the end from all the sanding :p. Also please resize the pics to 800x600.

And here are the "brushed metal" pictures.

Kind of dusty. I'll have to clean it.

Incase anybody was wondering what sand paper I used, I first started off with 60 grit, then moved up to 120, then moved up to 240.

Your gonna paint a clear coat or some protective finish right?
I think you will need to otherwise you'll be facing horrid finger prints and rust possibly later on.

Nice job btw. I like the look. But all the lines are going in a curve. Try and fix that.

Yeah I had thought about the protective finish a couple of days ago. It would rust, I know that.

I guess I'll work on the lines right now.

Yeah that's really good, The lines sure give it an original look, but it's not a bad one. Keep it up :D

I may work on adding an AMD window on top of the case.

There is this little space that would fit the logo perfectly. This will take some time, for sure. I'm going to have to cut the AMD logo into two pieces, otherwise the center would fall out and it would just be a weird square.

The highlighted area is where I'm going to cut.

http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/5681/dsc004480ek.jpg

If I do fail at this, I will just cut around it and make a square window, so all is well.

And I'll correct the position when I cut out the logo, yes I know it is incorrect.

Kind of off-track, but oh well.

Before I started this mod, I wanted to know how the brushed metal would look. So I used an old case that housed an AMD 300. It turned out good, so I thought I'd do it on my newly bought Centurion 5.

As you can see, the case is extremely old.

And we can't forget a picture of the chip.

In other news, the Centurion 5 is doing fine. I'm just sanding away the paint still, as it will take time.

Well, kind of reviving a dead topic, oh well.

I plan to buy a power sander here pretty quickly because I'm kind of sick of sanding it by hand.

Awesome... I have the same case so I'm interested in seeing what mods you do. I changed my window to clear plexi and it looks great.

are you only going up to 240 grit? are you using a sanding block? You could make it look a whole lot better if you went a lot higher grit sandpaper (i.e. 2000).
