Hello all.

I have been trying to find the limits of my current setup (AMD 1.4 - see sig). So, I started by increasing the FSB while decreasing the multiplier to keep it around 1.4.

I ended up at 150 FSB stable. My next BIOS option is 155, which will post but not stay stable.

I ran it for a while at 150 x 9.5 vCore of 1.78 and just upped it to 150 x 10 at vCore of 1.85.

I am not sure how far she will go, but I am wondering what some of you think about the tradeoff between total MHz and FSB speed.

I know I'd rather have more FSB for memory reasons, but where do you being to lower it to hit higher MHz numbers since the multipliers are in .5 increments those are big jumps when you increase those.

On a side note, what is a good 'target' speed for a 1.4 for reasonable (not jet engine) air cooling?

Thanks,
DB

in all reality unless you can get a LOT more FSB, than total mhz is usually the better performer

highest MHz with the Highest FSB your system can handle would be best....

*** Update ***

Ran my machine at 150 * 10 but got the blue screen in Win2K after a few hours of running Folding@Home.

Any ideas on what would cause instability like that?

I have been running at 150 FSB for a week at 150 x 9.5, but it seems like ANY combo that put me over 1.5 seems unstable.

I've tried upping the vCore to 1.87 but that hasn't seemed to help. My 5V hovers right around 4.78 - 4.81. My PSU is a 300W unit.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
DB
