While I like the style of the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 Multimedia Speaker System much better, it costs $349.99 making this $99 deal a great bargain on arguably the best PC speakers out.

This deal is pretty tempting, I might have to skip the Z5500s...

100 watt output power... not THAT much, but this thing has a built-in decoder, which is rather cool.

MAn those are nice! i need some speakers, i just dont know to get that or not!!! so tempting!
I don't think you guys can say that. The Logitech Z5500 is a 500-watt system, whereas this is just 100-watt.
The ProMedia Ultra is what competes with the Z5500 b/c they are in the same class. These GMX are only 100watt.
These are not the 'top of the shelf' Klipsch 5.1 speakers.

For the price there not bad, but I'd rather spend more for Z-5500's. We use to sell these when I use to work Retail a few years back...I thought they were crap, but once again they weren't $99 either.
how would these stack up against my 5300s?

how would these stack up against my 5300s?IMHO, the 5300's are a bit better, not sure if the sub is better on the logitech though, as logitech tends to tune there subs for volume, not accuracy. So the sub on the klipsch may sound better even if it is lower power, just don't expect it to shake the whole house.
Note this may not work even if you have a 5.1 digital out.

The sub is absolutely pathetic, you can barely make it rumble. It was below average in my opinion, my Klipsch 4:1 at the time was like night & day though hard to compare. I'd stick with cheapo Logitech 5.1's, maybe these would sort of decent for like a budget console gamer or something :shrug:

Look at the pic dude, what is there not to get? There 5.1's, rear surrounds must be placed behind you no exceptions.

5.1 = 5 satelites and 1 subwoofer
That would be surround sound. You have a front center, a front right and left, and a rear right and left.
To be honest, I really don't like the Logitech subwoofers or speakers that much, from the ones I have tested out at best buy, they all seem to be great at just making tons of noise and shaking the place, but they don't sound "good." There is a difference between not as powerful accurate good sound, and just ****loads of bad sound coming at you. A little small 2.1 (might have even been 2.0) Bose speaker set sounded 10 times better than the Logitech's in terms of clarity IMO. The logitech's just seem like they are designed to muffle anything but bass.

I bought my girlfriend a pair of these for christmas a couple years back. They arn't anything spectacular but they get the job done, especially for 100 bucks. They even have an optical input for any optical devices you might have.
Im considering buying myself a set of these to replace my current pc speaker system... read cheap rca cassete stereo attatced to pc via car kit.
@md0Cer, I'm on my second consecutive set of Logitech 5.1 PC speakers. I have the 5300's and use them as monitors for recording music and such, as well as gaming and movies for my HTPC. They're really good speakers that just need to have the bass turned down... A LOT! lol Most stores have them set at defaults, which favor today's bass hungry consumer. But they really have quality drivers in the satellites, and the bass remains punchy and not boomy at lower levels. I'd re-evaluate them in a well equalized home environment before ruling them out completely.
