all of a sudden my old northwood 2.26 is crawling. any application i try to open it hangs for a long time before my mouse cursor becomes active, also when i start up the comp and get into windows takes a long time.

trying to play games, it either kicks me out to windows and computer hangs.

im looking at task manager and system idle process is at 99 for cpu usage.

is this normal?

what could be wrong? is this a cpu problem or hd?

my cpu temps were below 40 degrees celicus.. i keep my pc clear of spyware , scan twice a week. os is windows xp

anyway i put everything back down to stock, and now no problems.... everything is smooth again.

thermal throttling is a heat problem correct or is it a problem with cpu getting too much voltage?

thermal is a heat related, so thermal throttling is throttling due to excessive heat.
