View Full Version : BIG Trouble. Anyone know if Norton keeps its own reg backups?

Having a bit of a problem. Reg fragged. Scanreg wouldn't use the backups. Now the backups have vanished. Does anyone know if Norton Systemworks keeps its own backups of the registry? And if so, what directory? This is my last chance before formatting.

What? A copy of your registry?

No. You say it's not picking up the backups you have.......

Just reformat, and reinstall...............:)

It'll be good for your system........

You make it sound so easy. :p Sure the Windows part isn't so bad, but then drivers, programs, etc. Everything sits on D: but no easy way to make Windows find it again.

Of course, Ghost would've been good to have, but when SpeedDisk frags the reg while I'm digging out the docs, it kinda sucks.

Norton has a registery tracker....I think it monitors changes to your registery but I have never used it....I' ll look on my system and see what it's all about.

Ohh...The Norton Registery Tracker does not install under Win2K...Someone who has Win 98 installed on their system with a full install of Norton System Works will be able to help you.

Thanks for the replies, but the point is moot now. I was trying to transfer C: to E: and somehow fragged my partition information, so I have a total loss on the drive. Have already formatted and reinstalled the basics. Will Ghost it when I finish the rest. After about 8 hours at the DOS prompt between last night and today, it's kinda nice to be back in a GUI. :)

Happens at a good time, if there is such a thing... I have a fresh system for the replacement P3 1100 that arrived this morning.
