There's my question, What is the Best HSF.

I guess this greatly depends upon what do you specify as being good. Does the price matter? Does the noise matter? Does having to remove the heatsink if you move your PC matter?

I personally like the Millennium Thermal Glaciator II as this is an exceptionally well made product which performs remarkably well and with very little noise

Ok, Price doesn't matter, sound:rolleyes: doesn't matter, and well, I want to take my 1.4 Ghz T-Bird to the MAX without using a water cooler or something like that. Athough I dont wana have to remove the motherboard just to get the HSF off either. Ok, I think that's enough for now.

Thanks

Alpha PAL 8045 with a 51cfm delta, loud and expensive, but gets the job done. For Price and Noise get the Glaciator orhte Glaciator 2, cheap-quiet-also gets job done

I think the new Swiftech lines cool really well. They outperform almost all other HSF but its in the neighborhood of 80 bones.

and both the 8045 and swiftechs need the mobo to be removed in order to install them. something that's was on the no-no list...

I have volcano 5 heatsinks, they are pretty good however
you will proboably get better results with a delta 51 CFM fan.

How about them Dragon Orbs, or that
one with 60 fins of copper that was avertised
alot on overclockers.com main page.
Anyone know its name?

well, the extra cooling is worth the extra few minutes to remove the mobo. besides, it wasn't in the case yet since i was building my computer from scratch

Ok, Ok, Ok.......
I'v herd my share of what I'm sacrificing by getting one I dont have to mount on the case so I'v decided I'd just go with one that I can get the job done on 1 thing COOLING!

EDIT: I'v Chose to go with the Swiftech MC462, It is by far the heaviest HSF I'v ever seen but I love it's temps!:)

Look at this article I saw on Tom's Hardware; it's "A comparison of 46 CPU Coolers" (http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/01q2/010521/index.html)

Yes the Swiftech MC462 is a great heatsink but one that is quoted during that test as being for "Real hard-core overclockers, who really don't care about the noise level" It is also worth remembering that the test does not contain the latest range of coolers such as the Glaciator 2 or Silver Mountain but like they say its your money

swiftech and alpha give very similar results and the alpha is 30 dollars cheaper! use the money to get extra case fans and you will have better cooling for the money spent!
