Nah, there is nothing retarded about what you asked. The fact is that the question comes up like once a month around the forums. However, this is probably the first one that I can think of as having happened in General Discussion. So if you searched just in this part of the forums, I could easily see how you would miss it.

Seeing that you are fairly new in here, allow me to offer you a pointer. For the most part, computer related stuff tends to happen in the more specific area of the forums. What little we have in here that touches on computers tends to be only a secondary topic to something else. For example, I have a thread where I asking peoiple to explore the social implications of the existence of "real" artificial intelligence. Or you may find people talking about cars and see some discussion of what you can do to/with the engine computer. More frequently, what you will find in here has little if anything at all to do with computers.

As far as where you would find threads on desktop backgrounds, most of those seem to go into General Computer Related Discussion. To be honest, I I could figure out a way to word it, I would probably make a sticky on all the common questions that come up in GCRD.
