thanks Steve :D (nice avatar by the way ;))

i've got these sticks on pre-order, and will have them by friday (hopefully)

i've read that memory settings can differ from cpu to cpu, will these settings work with an X2 chip?

SteveOCZ

X2 is no problem :)

Let me know if you have any problems

my X2 working at 2.6GHz, so I hope the EB ram can works at 260MHz 3-3-2-8, is it posssible???

Most sets are doing at least 270FSB and I've seen 280 or more with a few

Now you have me excited to try that ram with all the settings. My X2-3800 is super stable at 2700mhz but I need some ram to run at that speed and I want to jump to 2gig so I think you just pushed me over the edge.
If I could get that ram to run at 270mhz with those timings that would be great!
Thanks for posting all of the Bios settings!

is there any substance to the issues they mention in this review?
or is it dependant on the individual cpu core, and memory controller?

That was a very interesting review. I seem to have a similar problem with my OCZ Platinium PC3200 rev2.

My X2-3800 runs all day stable Prime95 at 2700mhz as long as I run my memory with the 5/6 divider at 225mhz 2-3-2-5 at 2.9v

The memory will run 270mhz with loose timings ok if I run the CPU at not over 2550mhz. Very Wierd!

I think the memory controller has something to do with this but I'm not sure.

I think I'm going to get a set of the 2gig Platinium PC4000 OCZ and give them a try.

Some of the cores/batches of CPU's didn't overclock well at high FSB speeds. That means on those CPU's you'll not be able to run them at high FSB speeds with the CPU heavily overclocked as well.

Tony posted some info here

That one has the ATI chipset so timings will be different. I wonder if Tony has that board alread....going to ask him now :santa:

:) my sticks arrived today
i've only had a little fiddle so far...
i can memtest them at 269MHz, but if i try 270, i keep getting errors at the end of test 5

i can boot into windows at 261-265 (cpu multi 10x), but when i get to the desktop my monitor starts flicking on and off  , 260MHz and below is fine

at the moment i'm running at 11x250 and it seems more stable than with my geil memory (crappy hynix)

these are my current settings
http://img29.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled10bm.jpg

i would've liked to get 265x10, or 270x10 (my temps @2750 peak at 50-52C), but i'm not sure if my memory controller is limiting me

any help would be really appreciated

thanks in advance

has nobody got any ideas what could be causing the monitor to click on and off repeatedly??
if i run dual 32m super pi, and ignore the monitor, then it will pass without any computational error, but obviously the computer is unuseable like this
Steve? any ideas?

Pyro are you running the timings I posted for the DFI? Which bios are you using right now?

Hi Steve, thanks for replying, i really appreciate it,
this has got me going out of my mind with frustration :bang head

i'm running tony's 704-2bta bios
i've tried those settings above, but no go above 260MHz, even with an 8 or 7 multiplier
everything seems fine until i get to the windows desktop, then the monitor goes mad

i also just tried dropping the latencies to 3-3-3-8 2T, without success
while i've been typing this, the screen has clicked off at least 6 times
sometimes it will turn back on straight away, other times it will stay off for roughly 10 seconds

How has the 1gig x 2 OCZ PC4000 Platinium ram been working out. I am very interested in a 2gig set of ram for my DFI setup in my sig.

Why not get the OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Gold GX XTC's that just came out? Brand new heatspreaders from OCz themselves ( they are being patented btw. )

I have a retailer if needed. :)

I was just wondering if Pyro ever got his OCZ PC4000 platinum memory problem resolved. I hadn't see anything more posted on these 2 gig sets.

Let us know how your new memory works out when you get them. The timings and speed you get. Where did you get yours?

I am thinking that some of the inconsistencies we are having is the memory controller on the various X-2 chips.

Any idea ohw this stuff runs?

I am going to to use it as an alternitive unless the Platinum PC4000 comes back into availability on NCIX...

Any reviews about this stuff?

Any idea which would run better? and OC better?

no i didn't :(

my max overclock with these sticks and my current setup is 258mhz  :bang head

Pyr0

That is a nice overclock of 2750mhz for your CPU :)
You must be running a 9/10 divider on your memory?
Even 250mhz for your memory with those timing should give you pretty good memory bandwidth.
Is your system 100% stable now at those speeds?

Pyr0
11-24-05, 07:46 AM
thanks H2, the maximum i've had out of it so far has been 2805MHz, the memory is running at 1:1 with the fsb(htt)
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7511/untitled10bm.jpg

the system is really stable at 2750, i haven't fully tested 2800 yet (getting some watercooling to see if i can keep the temps down first, just ordered the swiftech apex kit)
at the moment it runs 2x folding@home consoles 24/7, unless i need it for anything else

when i ordered this memory tho, i was expecting overclocking memory :bang head
i wanted to run 24/7 with the memory running at 265-275MHz
so now i'm thinking of ordering some different ram :(

Hey Darkside,
Where did you get this ram at?
