OK, picked up an ibm 240, i'm sure everyone is familiar with this model, its about 3 lbs, no drives at all. booting from a usb floppy is a no go, and i cant justify pouring more cash into it.

so all i have to work with is my laptop hard drive/usb connector'

is there an os i can just copy onto this hard drive ?

- i have tried booting from a usb hard drive
- i have tried copying the contents of a bootdisk to the bare ***'ed hard drive

Try partitioning the HDD into two partitions; one about 750MB (make sure it is bootable), the other with the rest of the space. Then take a Win2k CD and dump the entire contents onto the 750MB partition. Then set the computer to boot to the HDD and it should load the contents of that drive, then install win2k onto the other drive and you're set.

ok that didn't work , no problem, they can lock this thread i sold it for 100 bucks to get rid of it.
