Hi forum,
I'm testing out my new P5WD2 clocking my P4 (650) at 4GHz.
Running Prime95 AND SuperPI at the same time.
Temp (monitored by PC Probe II) shows 62C maximum for CPU and 34C for MB.
I was expecting higher. Am I to assume this is safe?
CPU fan does NOT increase in speed which surprises me.
What is the maximum this 650 CPU can handle before meltdown?

You should not go over 60c under full load a a general rule of thumb. What kind of cooling are you using?

thats prefference
62C is fine for load
but it couldnt hurt to go lower :p
do you have as5?

Cooling is AIR with Cooler Master Hyper48 AND Artic Silver 5.
Fanduct (up-side-down cabinet) with 120mm front and rear.
Sound level is low, the way I want it.

That is why I said general rule of thumb ;) . You could ignore temp and just throttle the hell out of the chip if you want.

62c is not going to harm your chip, nor will it throttle, the temp threshold for the 650 is I believe 67 or 69c. Now I would not let it go any higher then 62c.
