View Full Version : Can't Get Prim95 to run 100% Load
I tried and created 2 different folders of installed prime95 to run both at the same time but I can only get the status to 50% load.
What can I do to make it run 100% and testing it out?
Thanks a lot :)

This should help you out...
you have to run one, then go into the "task manager" (ctrl+alt+del) and then right click it, then click "set affinity", then click "CPU 0" to select the first logical CPU. Next, open the other Prime, and do the same as above, but click "CPU1" instaead. This will cause each program to run on each logical CPU.
HT uses "logical CPU's" Logical CPU's are like having a seaparate CPU to the OS, and this is why it is only loading one of them and showing 50%. Each 50% is a logical CPU.
Make sure only one checkbox is selected for each instance. Once you do that the CPU should be loaded to 100% and you can verufy that in the task manager.
Watch the trmps closely when dual Priming. I always single Prime first, then after i'm fully satisfied it's stable with a single, I do a dual Prime. Dual Priming will increase temps significantly over a single instance. SOme people don;t do it at all anymore. I only do it once to test a new OC. Once I've done it, I only single Prime after that to keep tabs on things. You'll get used to how the system behaves.

Aw, I almost forgot...did you also rename them different filenames in the different folders? They need to be different.
Do I really need to run Dual Prime whenever I increase my FSB lil by lil.
Right now, for my blue system (see sig), I'm sitting at 245x16 = 3.92ghz at 1.41Vcore. I just want to test if it has any error, a single prime shoud me sufficient? Then a sucessfull 12hrs burn-in by Sandra should prove that it's okay or should I run Dual Prime to make sure?
Thanks

OK, I'm forgetting something here guys. I just got curious about mine, and now I can;t get mine to work either. I know it's one little thing. I can't get the instances to open separately. I set the affinity and all that, but I'm leaving something out.
^ yup, same thing happened to me. I tried like you said, and only 1 is being run and takes up 50%, the other's status is running but @ 0% :(

I'm afraid I'm gonna ahve to play with it tomorrow. I'm about brain dead right now from messing with my freinds gaming box. Man we had a marathon session with that thing all day long. If there was ever a computer that I would burn at the stake, it's that thing. I swear that machine is posessed.
It's something simple. I've done it a bunch, I just can't think right now i'm so tired. I'll try to mess with it tomrrow when I get back from work. It works, I'm just not doing something right.
I'm glad I messed with it now though, and saw that I left soemthing out. I'll correct that as soon as i figure out wth I did...or didn't do. hehe
Sorry about that man. That's what happens when you are too tired. I will get back to it though. That's a promise.
I do not use CPUs with HyperThreading, but I have Prime95.
Should be very easy with HyperThreading (if Hyperthreading is not being used, use only one instance of Prime95 and do not set affinity):
Extract two instances of Prime95 files (or one and then copy them somewhere else).
Run different instances of Prime95.
For each instanceAdvanced -> Password....
Input Password "9876".
Advanced -> Priority...
Input "10".
Advanced -> Affinity...
Set different affinity vales for the different instances.
Ready to burn!
just a quick question... when running prime95 which tourture test does everybody generally use?
I use blend just cause I was told by somebody else... it ran for an hour flawlessly under blend.
The other 2 tests crash within 10min. I don't have any problems with my o/c, just was wondering which one I should be doing. I know your supposed to run the test for days+ but frankly I dont have the time since it takes up like every MB of RAM and just crushes performance.
