Hi all,

I'm preparing to setup my first Aquacooled rig. Which waterblock should I get to cool my XP-1533 CPU sitting on a KG7-Raid (1800+ whatever) together with OC-Watercool (http://www.overclock-watercool.com) Black Ice II radiator, and OCers-Hideout (http://www.overclockershideout.com/) Anodized Aluminum Reservoir with 145GPH submers. pump.
First I was planning to get Swiftech MCW462 because of its reputation in the aircooled world, but then I thought maybe there's an Alpha PAL8045 comparable part in the H2O-cooled world. The reviews that I read on the net prooved that actually there're but couldn't decide which one to get.
Any input from you guys, is highly appreciated as I'm new to the Aquaworld.

Thanks in advance,

Al

how much are you willing to pay for a block?

I really would not get the silver polyblock unless you want it for pure swag because the benefits of the silver are very small there is something to that effect in the watercooling tips

I went with the dangerden maze2 which is a very good block but I think that it is largely personal preferance and budget

most any solid block will perform well
I would look for one that has a very good hold down mechanism using the mounting holes

just some suggestions

Maze2 is definetely a nice block, full copper, spiral design... but I didn't like the plastic nuts and bolts stuff though...
I can spend $60 for the waterblock meaning I can get the MCW462...
Also OCwatercool's Chip told me that he's working on new design called IceFloe... I'm trying to learn more about this...
I'm looking for a WB roundup review on the net featuring Maze2, WCW462 and Z4 but couldn't find it...

BTW how do you guys like the OcersHideout's aluminum reservoir with built in 110V 145GPH pump?

i know the feeling im loooking for the same thing rite now. i know not to get the silve pollyblock. aparently it looks nice but requires much laping and performs poor compaired to the maze. thats about it. also i have kinda ruled out the z4 because I ahve herd that when you mix copper and alumenium they have a better chance of corroding:mad: . the maze and swifty seem to be the most pupolar. hope i helped...

Yep it seems like we're on the same boat... Swift. MCW462 req. 2 weeks to be shipped...
I was chatting on the ICQ with Chip from overclock-watercool, and he said he's readying protos for his new IceFloe...
So maybe I'll wait for it, instead of waiting 2weeks for the MCW462...

I have also talk to chip from overclock-watercool he was nice enought to send me some pic of the new blocks that are comming out soon.. Don't expect to see these from anyone else anytime soon. The material is not machineable, not weldable & not solderable by conventional means, so the only thing left is using special purpose adhesives, which I have specialized in for a number of years, and lapping with ultra hard abrasives.

Attached are pix of the first prototype and baseplate made from the IceFloe material.... ugly but functional

I have the maze 2 not a bad block its the old version. anyways with a 156 watt pelter and the maze 2-1 on a 1.3 overclocked 1496 temp at load is 106f not bad but if the new block from overclock-watercool can make a difference then i will get one...

How do You come around that answer of that being the best block. i myself have the maze2-1 and should be getting the z4 block in a couple of days... why do your think that the silver polyblock is better. I have read many articles saying that the block itsn't that much better then the maze 2-1 and the z4 beat the polyblock but i will be certine in a couple of days and have the resultes posted finaly bought a probe for the test always used the motherboard prob this one is going right next to the core and i will have the specs in a few days.... but back to my statment the polyblock also had to be lapped because it was not flat... so if i am wrong please some one set me right...

I have also read reviews compairing the 2, and they say the maze2 out performs the poly block in temps. (from www.procooling.com). also when you get the z4 please post results, i have herd very little about them and they look like good blocks:)

alright people after a couple of hrs installing the new Z4 the Aqua Sink and the Motherboard Water block.. All Bought from overclockershideout.com. I also purchase the Universal Hold Down Device And let me tell U it doesn't work with the Z4 nice with the maze just remember not to tighten it too much or SNAP U break the side parts on the cpu Just like I did anyway I fixed the problem buy buying some Plexiglass and made my own hold down devise with the 4 bolts around the Cpu. I think its a lot better then the side clips.. now for the temps... Notice the difference I bought a prob for all the test and its sitting right next to the core.. the system Z4 cooler with 156watt pelter and a 72 watt on the motherboard...

amd 1.4 overclocker to 1500 just for start
512 PC2100
GeForce2 pro 64 Getting the GeForce 3 ti
10000rpm HD maxtor SUCKS its The 2nd one from them and I hear clicking noises coming from the HD again after 3/4 full..

Temps at idle are from of CPU next to core is 15.2c back of Cpu is 28.0c
motherboard temps idle 14.4C not Bad:D

load CPU core temp 16.9c and back of Cpu is 31.0c
load Motherboard temps 17.0c

Z4 Is better then maze2-1 in all ways...
cool better and transfer heat real nice... no big difference in temps... Well this is the test I will be doing another test with the Z4 and the overclock-watercool new Block as soon as it comes out... replies welcome.. .Blackbox AKA wolfsid
