Hey guys,

I had two HD's in a SATA RAID 0 array and my motherboard died... all data on both HD's is intact but I really need some files off the two or even better having the array rebuilt and not have to reinstall windows etc when I get a new mobo

Surely this is not a hard thing to do... like i said both drives are intact... just need to set the array back up.... thanks for any help

Get the same motherboard with identical RAID chip. Connect the drives and set them up in the BIOS, make sure not to format. Should work then, i've done it once.

No chance of getting the same board.... I've already ordered a different one, putting it in tomorrow

Thanks for the suggestion, but any other options?

To minimize the risk of data loss, you will need exactly the same raid controller.

you don't need the exact same motherboard however (like Sjaak said) you WILL need to get the same raid controller to get the data back. I had a raid 0 array setup on a kr7 and ended up losing the board and just finding a hpt 370 based raid card and used that and it picked up the array just fine.

I was able to rebuild one on an i875p once... but i went from an abit to an intel board of the same chipset...
And yes, i was using the same raid controler on it (as there can often be more than one, make sure to be careful when you do that)
