microphone drivers

do microphones require drivers to install before they can be used? i bought a headset with a microphone that doesnt seem to work. is it faulty or do i need to install a driver?

No, they dont use drivers. But you do need to enable it in the sound mixer. Go into the Control Panel, the Sound. Then click the first advanced button. Then options, properties, and select recording, then click ok. Now checkmark Microphone. Now it will be enabled.

What are you trying to use the mic for? Games?
