Ok, what UPS (Back-Up Power Supply) ratings could someone recommend to a about a 500W power supply in my computer, I know I am using at least 375W on the PS.
I also have a large Trinitron 21" CRT  but I'm guessing I don't even want to plug that in at all, too much power drain, but I don't know. I could however grab another monitor, 15" Sony LCD.

What power ratings on a back-up supply could I look for.
For example:
725VA and 450W, is it correct to look for a supply that matches your computers power supply?

Also I plan on using this same back-up on my newer rig when I get all the parts, it's in my SIG, so take a look.

1) always plan for the max power you will ever use
2) alow it to get a full charge before plugging the comp into it
3) dont plug a lazer jet printer into it if you are already close to it's limmit
4) i LOVE my APC 1500 VA... keeps my network hardware, 3 comps, and 2 laptops humming 24/7 when im home.

... oh, and if you plan to hook up multiple rigs, i think at least 1000 VA is in order... but if you plan to plug in some CRT's i duno... they draw a lot more juce than my LCD's

I also forget where i found some chart that showed me watage to VA ratings and such, which was very helpfull in finding out what would fit my needs best.

*Note* ever consider dual monitors? and just keep the 15" lcd on the UPS?.. and let the CRT go black when you have power issues?

I have a question... although it sounds newbish. A UPS protects against surge, and just provides extra juice during outages, correct? Well, if I don't are about not having a PC during a blackout, and all I want it PROTECTION for my devices to not be killed during a surge or something, then is a surge protector enough?

So many people have UPSs, but I don't see why since I rarely get a blackout.

< Sorry for the threadjack, but I may actually be interested in a UPS too > :)

Dual-Mon is not an option, room is too small for a 21" allready, and I have a small desk, try and find that chart for me will you.
How much was that APC 1500 VA, I have a 350VA, but I allready know it probally won't save my computer alone.

I've narrowed it down to this. Anyone have any notes or opinions on it to add?

It's 700 watts for the price of like 450 if you get APC, however you pay extra for APC's customer support...but I'm not worried.

I wonder if I can run my 21" monitor on it...

Newegg has the X1800XT now so I will be purchasing pretty soon.
Is a FSP 550W power supply big enough? Also is a 700W back-up UPS large enough to run it with my monitor.

I currently have that one running my main rig in my sig. 3x LCD monitors, and the tower are hooked up to it. It shows a load of 44% with my system at load. It will last almost 45 min.
