Why hello, I am in need of some advice! I currently have these speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836150011 ; have had them for little over a year now. Personally, I think they are great sounding; the bass is a bit too strong though(for one like me who prefers treble)! I currently use them with an Audigy LS 1 sound card from around a year ago.

How would this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188 fair out with the afforemetioned speakers? Would I be bottlenecking the soundcard with the atrocious speakers? Basically, I would use them to listen to music; and maybe occaisonally play an oldschool pc game like Baldur's Gate 1&2. So that's why I don't need anything more than 2.1's.

Maybe I will buy other 2.1 speakers in the future, like the klipsch proaudio speakers that every one raves about; but for now I have these joys.

If you disagree with my petition to purchase X-Fi's, please tell me a soundcard better than my Audigy 1 LS that would work wonderfully with the speakers I have; and that would be applaudable at a later date, when I buy new speakers or headphones!

Thank you, Audiophiles !

what's wrong with the Audigy LS?

the X-Fi seems like overkill for those speakers, if you do get high end speakers like the klipsch in the future, get the X-Fi at the same time

i would keep the current set and upgrade both card and speakers later on

i say this because i have heard more than once on this forum and i agree that speakers make more of a difference than the soundcard and you will see the faults of your soundcard when you know your speakers can do better than what the soundcard can pump out, if your speakers can't reproduce sounds like your soundcard intends, you won't even notice what is good or bad about the soundcard, which would render the x-fi a waste if you stick with those speakers

The Chaintech AV-710 is considered by many to be a great 2.1 sound-card. I know a lot of the audiophiles over at Headfi.com use that sound card and seem to really enjoy it.

If you never plan to upgrade past 2.1 than the chaintech would be all you need. You could proboly even sell your audigy and get the chaintech and make money on the deal.
