Unlocking XP 1700+

I followed the XP unlocking article using krazy glue and window defogger paint but alas I still can't change the multiplier. The pits are filled in and reasonably flat but I have a feeling the bridges aren't properly linked by the defogger paint. Should I reapply more of the paint or scrape it off and try again.

Actually I was just happy that I didn't fry the CPU but that feeling was shortlived. After that it was like damn I can't change the multipliers. What a drag. After 3 careful hours of work-nothing to show for it.

I would guess scrape it off and try again around the area of the contacts.
How far can you overclock your cpu just raising the fsb?

on my 1800+, i was able to get the FSB up to 145. but i backed down to 142, just because its brand new, and i want to burn it in first. i really really wanna unlock this thing though.

Actually I haven't tried increasing the fsb just yet. I'm going to try connecting the bridges again. Thanx for the replies.
