Please help me decide on a pump. I want VERY quiet, DC powered, strong enough to power my slightly restrictive loop. (restrictive because of the vid coolers)

here's what will be in the loop:
1. T-Line (ok not exactly "in" the loop...but I suppose there could be a small amount of restriction here
2. Pump
3. Swiftech Storm on top of 4400+ O/Ced to probably as high as it will go (guessing 2.8 Ghz)
4. SLI 7800 GTXs with blocks that cool GPU and RAM (like the Danger Den NV-78SLI) O/Ced to around 500Mhz Core/1.4Ghz Mem
5. Black Ice Pro II Rad

1/2" tubing BTW

I'm looking at:
CPS-MAG (because I've been told it's quiet)
MCP-350
MCP-655 (I know this it adjustable...but would it be quiet at the setting I'd need to get the OCs I want?)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that since your looking for a DC only pump. That purchasing 2 of the Mag's will do the trick. Is this what you mean by mag? (http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-pmp-37.html) Have one pulling and one pushing. 270+gph, hal sensored. and should do the trick. But I have a tendencey of going with overkill so it may be that only one will do what you need.

Hmmm yeah that is the pump (just under different brand name) the one that I call CSP-MAG is from dangerden.....anyway...... I guess I never thought of using 2 pumps.....I can't say I'm an expert....but I can't imagine that could be a bad thing? could there be turbulance problems? I dunno...I guess if it works well for you.

My main concern is noise. how would you rate the noise on those pumps?

and also....did you plug the 3-pin right into your motherboard or did you use a 3 to 4 pin convertor? ....I heard it draws 8W of power and that some MB's might not handle that well......2 would be even worse then right? :)

I have a csp750 and they are almost identical to the mag, with the exception of a few design differences and a delrin top.

Its pretty quiet, but make sure you mount it on rubber, with a lot of force. if mine is able to move even a little, it vibrates the case to all hell heh.
mcp655 or extremely quiet at all settings but i think it depends on your definition of quiet. My fans easily overpower my pump when they are running 7 volts.
typically i can hear my seagates before i hear the pump.
so i guess i can say the csp is a great pump, but i wouldnt use it with the storm.

I would suggest you get either the mcp350 (aka DDC) or the mcp655 (aka D5). They have quite a bit better performance than the csp-mag pumps. Or, you could invest a little more and get an Iwaki pump. Those will handle anything you throw at them, and quietly too.

One other suggestion is that you get a better radiator. I am not sure how well a BIPII can handle the heatload you are talking about. I would suggest at least a BIPIII, or a PA120.3 (i believe that is the designation for the 3x120mm PA160 derivative).

My only problem with that is trying to fit in in my case (which will most likely be a Gigabyte 3D Aurora. It has Dual 120mm's in the back....I'm not sure where I'd put a 3x120.

But I don't know....maybe I will go with the MCP-655....I guess I can then decide for myself what "quiet" is ....and I can balance between silence and performance.

Any hints on where the cheapest one can be found?

With all the restriction in your loop, even 2 Mags might not get it done well. That MCP-655 is adjustable so it might be the best option for you.

I have a Mag in my setup, but since theres not much restriction at all its been great. The WB and the radiator are from the thermaltake bigwater kit, and both are designed for low resistance since the included pump was junk.

yeah...the more I thimk about it....the more i think the 655 is the way to go for me.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!
