Can you guys let me know if this reciever is any good. I would like to use it for my computer (to connect custom speakers and a sub) to my sound card for music, games, movies.

Also, do you think it any good for a home theater setup?

Ok I found another pretty good reciever for my price range. Its the "PANASONIC SA-XR55K"

Here is a link to J&R (http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4032232#productTabDe tails)

My choices are for either the Panasonic or the JVC, which do you guys think I should go for? Also, would I be able to connect this to my sound card digitaly?

I haven't used either model, however I use a cheap JVC receiver, and it sounds perfectly fine.

Harman Kardon has a remanufactured store on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/Harman-Audio_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm
They have some great deals there.

The Panasonic XR55 is damn amazing. It's a class D digital amplifier, very efficient, very low THD and noise levels I believe. I just got mine last week and I love it.

After I posted the question above, I found many reviews praising how good it is. I am also getting one ;)

Harmon Kardon is sex in my ears. I have a factory refurb/reman, I would never know unless they told me, the box, everything, all like brand new.

Really, is there anything better than HK?

Agreed. We ordered our Onkyo home theater from J&R as a refurb and it sounds great.

Onkyo, HK, Denon, they're all GREAT products, Yamaha is also quite good, at least if you stay away from their cheaper stuff. I've got an AVR-510 and except for an issue with a hum and some video problems caused by a faulty cap, it's been really good to me. As for the cap, even though my receiver is out of warranty, when I called about it, they told me what it was and went ahead and authorized a service call for me. Unfortunately, there's only one service center for them in the Nashville area and that place also happens to be the official service center for most every other manufacturer so they have something of a backlog. They told me it could take a couple of weeks for them to even look at it, so I never ended up taking it in. :-/ I may try to open it up one of these days to clear out some of the dust bunnies inside and see if I can maybe find the bad cap visually. If I can then maybe I can replace it myself. If not, well, I suppose I can try to talk them into either telling me where it's at or approving the repair again and seeing if I can prevail on the shop to get it fixed quickly since they have documenation on exactly what needs to be done and wouldn't take but a few minutes to do it.
