I have a few linux boxes about at work doing different tasks.
One is a Cel366 and it produces more then my PII400 is that right? or could OS play some role?

Please lets not get into if Linux is better than Windows debate

If Linux had Office 2000/XP it would be better ;)

Anyone with experience on this?

They were supposed to be using a new compiler for Linux that was put together by Intel, although I haven't read anything that suggests that they used it to compile the final release version. If they did use the Intel compiler it could be that it is a better optimized compiler than the windows compiler which would explain the speed increase.

This would be very interesting to find out and I would drop windows in a heartbeat on the remote machines if the Linux client was suddenly faster.
