My question above is just in case I'm disappointed in the onboard sound from the new motherboard and CPU combo I just bought (ASROCK Dual Sata 64bit with Venice 3200). I'm also concerned that for that amount of money will I be better off just using the onboard sound?
thanks,
jason

SB Live 5.1 <-- Still my all time favorite sound card... worked forever, with anything.
But in the $50 range, what about a plain straight up Audigy2?
Not the ZS, Plat, or whatever else they put on it, they all use the same card, you just get some gimicey extras if you pay more.

2.1? 5.1? or 7.1?
At least a 5.1 set up because I have a 5.1 speaker set. I have no intentions in moving to a 7.1 because of the extra expense plus I don't have room for the 5.1 as it is.

The Audigy2 5.1 sounds nice but where do I get it? I don't think newegg.com carries but I'll check.
