You have to sand down above the L1 contacts to unlock the XPs!?

Is this true? Why did it take me 2 weeks of reading many many posts to finally hear about it? If so, this may be why some people that have tried to use the superglue/defogger repair kit were not successful... because the contacts were just below the surface, and the guides people wrote didnt specify to dremel/sandpaper down the contacts.

I've seen comments about this as well, but can't find anything substantial. If / when I do attempt to unlock my 1800+, I'l definately go with the Oc.com suggestion.
