OK today i had to reinstall freebsd 6.0 in hopes of getting x windows to run.

After the install I tired to go into windows and it gets to the small logo in the welcome screen and sits there.

If it helps I used the freebsd mbr.

are you trying to boot windows xp or are you trying to start a window manager in freebsd?

if it's windows, i think the problem may be that windows needs its own mbr to boot, and doesnt play nicely with others

OK its in windows.

and last time it worked fine.

in 6.0 it labels it as "DOS" and in 5.4 it labled it as "??"

i guess for now i can just go into windows recovery and put a new mbr?

You should try posting on the freebsd forums. I know it's possible to multi-boot bsd and windows as I've done it myself. I used grub to load both. However, I also had a linux partition which was driving the bus and booting both bsd and windows.
