I just wanted to see how many others share my demise... I built my computer last september in my signature below. Shortly after, faster and better video cards and motherboards were coming out. Has anyone else decided recently that since months after we build our computers games are getting too expensive to keep up with and enjoy to their full benefit? With the xbox 360 costing only 3-400 and the games costing much the same as a good pc game if not a little more, console gaming is FAR more attractive to me now! Maybe im partial because I love car games and they feel better on a console? but whatever it might be, i KNOW that it's nice to be able to rent console games, resell them to gamestop etc, and the fact that the platform for all the games that will be coming out for xbox the next 1-3 years during it's reign will remain the same! Just sharing my thoughts, sorry for stepping on your toes if you love pc games..i do too, i just couldn't afford them any longer! I still love my computer, overclocking, and linux so it's not a total loss :p

I usually try to go with at least one console and PC. There's generally some different types of games on each that you can't get much of on the other.

Investing in one of the next gen consoles can be a really good in terms of gaming/$$$ over the years...definitely a good idea if you like the games.

It looks like you have a pretty good PC that should work well for a pretty long time except for maybe the video card. Hopefully you have a PCIe slot and have a good upgrade path there. (If not, be ready to pounce on a 6800 GT AGP while you still can.) I don't think you'd need to bother with anything else upgrade wise for a pretty long time to have fun playing PC games. It's good to realize that PC games are still tons of fun even if you can run everything at the highest settings. I usually spend some time up front on a new game trying to figure out what the best settings are for my machine and then sit back, relax, and just enjoy the game.
