I just recently had my DSL connection upgraded to 4200 down and 600 up from about 1500 down and 450 up and my ping has almost doubled in my favorite server. Also I am getting huge lag spikes and am constantly getting choke.
I have tried looking a few guides but they all seem to be for CS and not CS:S so the settings seem to be outdated.
I have it at the following right now: cl_updaterate 30, cl_cmdrate 20 and rate 15000.
Any idea's suggestions?
cl_cmd 40-60
cl_updaterate 40-60
rate 25000
cl_rate 2500

I can't see why your ping would double from a bandwidth increase...maybe your line can't handle that speed and its getting errors?

That's a decent jump in speed, so you probably need to reconfigure some basic tcp settings(if not to fix the problem, at least it will make your connection run at optimum d/l and u/l speeds). Sometimes, when things RWIN are way out of range, you can get poor speeds or latency on a good connection. Go here: http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
run that tweak test, fill out your connection info afterwards, and it will recommend some settings. There will be a link on the results page for DR tcp. You can use it to change the settings, and after you restart your computer, things should run better hopefully.
