how do you guys think of the silver mountain HSF? sounds pretty impressive in reivews and such. all copper HS with silver coating. sounds good? this is going to cool an amd xp 1800 on an MSI k7t9pro ver2. so you think the silver moutain is good? i'm staying away from the alpha and swiftech because i might need to remove the HSF for traveling. i've heard mixed reviews of the thermalright sk-6. the gladiator sounds good. but dont know if it can keep up with the latest chip.

i heard (in a VERY technical thread) that a silver coteing dosent help much beacuse the copper is what is getting the heat away from the cpu the silver coating looks good but really dosent help much. it would help electrical conductivity but not thermal.

The Silver Mountain imho is a very reasonable heatsink when you consider the price, the reviews it is obtaining are also pretty good.
I personaly reccomend the Millennium Thermal Glaciator II as this is an exceptionally high quality heatsink that performs very well and is quiet

Yeah i got the Glaciator II and i am pretty satisfied. instead of sounding like a F-16 on full afts it sounds like a VCR rewinding i think i need to re seat it though i am getting 44-49C readings on my 1.4 266FSB but i have heard of people getting better with this HSF
