I have just found a place that sells these two and there is a 20 dollar difference between them. Being that I am on a budget here, I was wondering if there is indeed any noticible difference in audio quality between the two.

I only do moderate amounts of gaming and listen to MP3s quite alot. When I do game, I leave off the 3d surround sound options.

the audigy2 has more features and is supposed to sound better but the 24-bit is using an audigy LS chip and is decent itself, for your uses i believe the 24-bit will do fine

another option about the same price as the 24-bit is the chaintech av-710 if it is available to you, it offers excellent sound quality in 2 channels

I haven't found a chaintech, as per say, but I have found a card which uses the exact same chipset (the VIA envy). Unfortunately, it costs about the same as the audigy2.

TheAudigy 2 I'm considering is described as an "Audigy 2 Value". Are there any issue with this particular model, or should I avoid it like the plauge?

I don't believe their are any real issues with it. I believe the "value" just denotes basically no extras. You get the card and that's pretty much it.

the Audigy2 Value has no firewire and no THX
