yup like I said, but your gonna have to wait ten to twelve months for AMD to fully force the new standard.

QDR2 provides 4.2~4.5GB/s (PC4200). Micron is fully producing QDR2 as you read this. The difference between QDR2 and QDR is that QDR is rated to CL2 at lowest where as QDR2 can go WAY down to CL1.3.

Same goes for there new DDR2, which also goes to CL1.3

products:
Micron PC2700 DDR CL2 @ 333MHz
Micron PC2700 DDR2 CL1.3 @ 333MHz
Micron PC4200 QDR CL2 @ 333MHz & 533MHz
Micron PC4200 QDR2 CL1.3 @ 333MHz & 533MHz

Apperantly, QDR supports 333MHz DDR?????????????/ someone verify pleeazzeee!

cheers all, more news lata, opps, heres a link for you hardcore non-believas,

One last thing, Apperantly, normal QDR ram can do 250MHz @ CL1.3 , hmm, interesting

update!-

@hit, isnt 165-pin the wrong pin count for DDR? aint DDR 184-pin? Guess were upgraders are outa luck!

Sweet!,

I can buy PC4200 at the computer store, ? its $199.99 for 256MB! QDR-Ram

Why would you want PC4200 QDR at any price when there is no motherboard which I am aware of which currently supports it??

but ah, there will be in like two months lol

actually, the store only has 2 sticks and one of em there using for a demo, with a Tyan AMD board. hmm, I wonder what Chipset there using???? I know its 333MHz BUS so that scratchs basically every one eh? isnt SIS or ALI or someone got 333fsb ready?

UnseenMenace,

I dunno if these employess at the store are confused or just stupid, I personally think its really DDR2 now, I can see that as a possibility.

Apparently, The Abit KG7 series supports DDR2? with CL1.3 or that mode that above turbo, whats it called again?

Um, first off, thats SRAM, and the DRAM wont be around for another several months. Surely that store is selling PC2700 CL1.3 ram, I've seen some close up my self, very nice.

As for a roadmap,
Micron PC2700 DDR CL2 @ 333MHz
Micron PC2700 DDR2 CL1.3 @ 333MHz
Micron PC4200 QDR CL2 @ 333MHz, 400MHz & 533MHz
Micron PC4200 QDR2 CL1.3 @ 333MHz, 400MHz & 533MHz,

AMD will have a 400MHz FSB with QDR PC4200 using the Throughbred and Barton core!

The Clawhammer will be pushed back to start at 3GHz now, wow!, but Sledgehammer production will start at just above 2GHz, 2133MHz (533FSB).

Memory upgraders will get a break with QDR ram since they know that it will work with 400MHz and future 533MHz bus processors.

I've read somewhere a little while back that AMD should have a chipset based on 333fsb that supports QDR! and since thats what its supposed to debut running at.

So lets wait and see eh. 4.2GB/s is nice!

hope this helps,
