View Full Version : trouble getting SB Audigy Platinum to work on XP
has anyone had any problems with getting the SB Audigy Platinum to work with Windows XP?
i can hear sounds from my headphones but my mic doesn't work
i need the mic for Counter Strike
and i have tried all the settings, including unchecking the mute Box
any help how to solve this problem would be appreciated
i think it could be a driver problem
thanks
Are you making adjustments to the mic line through creative's software or windows?
Sometimes the software bundle isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's possible the creative mixer isn't talking properly to the windows volume control function. perhaps going into the windows mixer will work. If you've already tried this you may need to contact creative on this one. In the past their technical support was somewhat helpful and at least responsive (*cough* abit).

Have you got your mic conected up through the input at the front on the live drive or at the back?
If its at the front you need to enable mic2 (make it show up on the list with the volume) on the volume properties in the windows software and then also set record properties onto line-in2/microphone2 to select. Just check the tick in the box!
The reason it wont work at first is that Windows expects you to be using the mic1 input at the back of the soundcard and sets this up and tries to use this setting instead of the mic2 input.
Hope this helps you out!;)

I believe DJ Watts theory of fixing your problem will work I had a buddy who had the same problem and did the exact same thing as mentioned and he got his mic to work with some game where he used Roger Wilco..
