Which Program For Subtitles

Which program should i use in order to add sutitles in an avi file.
Plz help me.
I had AviSubtitler but after encodin the sound got lost.
Tried that a million times but i need another.
Need some opinions

avi2dvd is free & the subs will be selectable!! excellent quality for a dvd. To add subs to an avi you could use tmpgenc plus with vobsub. tmpgenc has a preview mode which will show if it's working. Just choose save as for an avi
