This is probably a noob question.

My friend has XP on her computer but she's still on dial up.
Can I just download the file from the link provided on the slipstream sticky and use that to install SP2 on her machine?

I think her XP doesn't even have SP1 on it.
Thanks.

Yes, you can just download it and then burn it to a CD to install at her house. Also, just so you know, you do not need to install SP1 if she doesn't have it. Just install SP2.

My cousin has dial-up and it took forever just to download anti-virus software. Since it took so long I just downloaded the rest of the stuff at my house and burnt it to a CD.

Thanks.

I would have never been able to update her machine with dial up.

I keep a copy of SP2 on CD for just such a reason. Downloading it on dialup would be excruciatingly painful.

It's taken about 5-10 minutes on my DSL, how long on dial up would you figure? Couple days? :bang head
