Hi, i have just bought a new motherboard (Abit GD8), Processor (P4 3.2Ghz Prescot 640), and a new Graphics card (Winfast GF 6800 THD 256MB).

I ran CPU-Z and where it shows the speed of the cpu core it fluctuates from 2800Mhz - 3200Mhz? Should it not just stay at 3200Mhz as this is a 3.2Ghz chip?

I'm just asking because since i have upgraded my bits it seems to run really fast at times but somtimes it takes ages to do anything, I was using a AMD xp 2400 @ 2Ghz before my upgrade but at times it seems to run slower than my old 1 used to.

Whats an averange score to get from PCMark 05 from this cpu?, I have run just the basic set of 11 tests and get a score of 3497. Is this a little low.

Thanks for your help

there should be an option within your BIOS to turn it off. The location varies by mfgr, but it shouldn't be hard to find. Try the PC Health section of the BIOS. Once you DISABLE, the pc will not throttle back anymore.
