View Full Version : Got my P3-1000E @ 1370 1.85v
Got my SK-6 today and lapped the hell out of it. Just ran the P3-1000E SL5QV through some benchies at 1370MHz at 1.85v!
Idle temps are 35/36C and seems to max out at 45/46C under loads of Prime95 or Folding@Home (or both at the same time) and also made it through 3DMark2001 w/o crashing. Still need to run some intense gaming tests.
Would not load Win2k at 1.4GHz at 1.85v. Have not tried to up the voltage yet. I'm only 30MHz away though, dammit!!

yo..where did you buy your chip and what's your ram???

Pecos, wow!!
That's great!! :D
Oh?!! I see you have the same HSF combo as mine! haha.. u like that HSF don't you~~ I know I luv it.. it's loud as a Boeingg airplane engine noise but im already used it. Glad to see your system running very stable at 1370. I am able to run it at 1370 also but was little bit unstable cauze it needed pretty high voltage back then. But now, im getting even happier.. After lots of intensive apps, games, and burn-in tests I am now able to bring my voltage back down to 1.85V@ 1350. Uh oh.. looks like we are in competition, lol. I should be able to run at 1370 smoothly at the same voltage now. I am working on my way to hopefully reach 1400 in the future as well! I luv it.. heeheehee

Hi auky, Pecos bought his chip at ENPC right before I did. I got mine at ENPC too. I believe he's got the holly CPU as well (not only me, heehee). Have you got the new chip yet? the same one?.. or..
BTW, my RAM is 2- 128mb Mushkin PC133 Rev.3.0 (you may not need top of the line RAM to overclock this type of CPU though)
i already sent the chip back and they testing it...mm..i just saw a post at tomshardware and the p3 1000E is indeed has a black square scorch around the core....mmm....what's wrong with my system...btw...my sk-6 with delta 8krpm will arrive on thursday.. lol...i'm sure 8000rpm is fast and LOUD! lol..:D

!!! 8000 rpm? LOL. You are in business! I think you'll get very good result with your next p3 1ghz setup! and yeah.. the black scorch thing around the CPU core.. I was gonna tell you mine has it too even though nothing is wrong with it but you got it already so .. cool. Let us know your OC'ing status when u get your system back together. good luck!

I like competition!!:D
Like I said, I haven't had a chance to run it through any long term gaming tests as of yet, but it's looking good so far. I think I'll try running it through CPUBurn (http://users.ev1.net/~redelm/) and see how it goes too.
I do like the SK-6. It's a little louder than the PEP66 with the YS Tech fan, but it doesn't bother me at all. It's tucked away under the desk so I'm shielded. The SK-6 is keeping the load temps about 3 deg C cooler than the PEP66. I haven't seen the temps go higher than 45 deg C so far with a case temp around 30 deg C (no idea what ambient temp is in my basement - I'll have to invest in a thermometer someday).
As for the RAM, I've got a stick of 128MB Mushkin PC150, 1x128 PC133 PNY, and a 128MB stick of Mushkin PC133. I should be able to get the two Mushkin sticks to CAS 2 - dunno about the PNY until I try.
woooo...i got my sk-6 today and i have a question though... should the fan sucking or blowing towards the cpu core???? this beast is goddamn loud:eek: still waiting for my p3 1000mhz to test is out....my max temp is 39C now..pretty good ..huh...

Sweet fan dude.. Nice temperature too :D
huh...sk-6 rocks man....now i can oc my 550E to 825 without hassle...i love this beast:cool: just cant wait to see how much i can oc with my p3 1Ghz
Cool man!
Hope you have just as good as luck as I did with my P3-1000E. I was finally able to get it to boot Win2k at 1.4GHz at 1.90v. It didn't wanna pass through 3DMark01 though. 1.90v is a bit too much for this kid. I knocked it back down to 1.37GHz at 1.85v.
I just wanted to hit the 1.4GHz mark and I did. I'm installing WinXP Corp on it right at this moment...

1.9v isn't bad with proper cooling. Man you got a nice chip:)
IMHO 1.95v would be safe too:D
i didnt expect much from my 1000E. 1333mhz is my objectivie :)
BTW, i really wanna thank the guy who asked me to throw away my crappy golden orb...thanks a lot!!!

Great posts guys. Congrats to Pecos's 1.4Ghz hit! and yes ol' man is right about the Vcore. With very good coolings like Swiftech, SK6, Alpha, Taisol, etc, you can freely bump the voltage up 1.95 without worrying about damaging the CPU.
Good luck to Auky.. Im happy that you're happy with your HSF! =) I assume you're using ASII right? Lapping and applying ASII would be great plus.
and you... Ebola, do u wish to try bumping your CPU up littler more? if so, have tried upping the voltage? I'd like to see your system do 1333. :)
and my system is running so well@ 1350 with zero number of crash in any apps, 2 hours of intensive Q3A 19bots sinlge player, and CPU burn-in test. oh... since it's so stable I think I will try 1370 today.. and if it will be stable, my next bump will be 1.4Ghz.
**Update** - Ebola, oh nevermind.. I just reread your post in your previous thread "still at 1240". :)

Wish you luck, man! I about crapped myself when it booted Win2k at 1.4GHz. I NEVER expected that. I need to get it back in at 1.4GHz to take the Sandra screenie again, I forgot to adjust the window size, but you can see the WCPUID and the current Sandra shothere (http://www22.brinkster.com/pecos/pics/pic.html).
I also tried that CPUBurn at 1.37GHz -- whoa, temps shot up to 51C and all was good for about 3~4 mins then the system rebooted itself... That is a badass stress proggie.
Hopefully I can get a chance to run some games through the rig and some beers through me for a few hours this weekend!

Thanks.. oh i understand how u felt.. must been so good to see that 1.4Ghz numbers when u booted up.. amazing... :D
Oh i think you can do it... with enough effort, I think you maybe able to get it running 1.4Ghz and be stable in the future.. just give it some time.. these CPUs we got now are sooooo fresh and new.. Once that new smell goes away, you might be able to OC that thing higher in my opinion! :D :D cheers..

Hey peco's,
we have some people at
http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/Forum2/HTML/011771.html
that think your temps are way too hot? How does that thing run? Is it unstable? Is the HS hot to the touch?
Post your answer and I will transfer it too HWC, thanks:)
