I have been having some catastrophic problems with my computer. It will start closing my internet windows or program windows and then crash (shut down without notice and sometimes not be able to start back up) or just crash without anything closing first.
When I'd finally get it going again (many times from having to format and reinstall windows) I'd run the online crash anyalisis and it'd tell me Error: Thread Stuck In Device Driver.
I began researching that I have tried EVERYTHING suggested to me and it has not helped. A technician could not figure out what was wrong. He even tried replacing the hard drive, which didn't help. People were telling me it was probably the graphics card so I replaced that and that didn't help. The problem made the computer crash so much (while I've been trying to fix it) that it blew the power unit and that was replaced. But that didn't fix the thread stuck in device driver error I am getting.
Recently I was suggested a series of tests. One of them was Memtest86. I tried it. About two hours and 19,000 errors later I hit esc and aborted the test. My computer was so stressed it immediately crashed when it tried to reboot for the first time.
What does this mean? Do you think it's the processor? Is their any additional tests to run on the processor or other hardware?
My computer is a Dell Dimension 4400 With Windows XP Home Edition.
I really, really hope someone can help me with this problem. Thank you to anyone willing to try to help.
